Day 1-2: Las Vegas, Valley of Fire State Park & Zion National Park

From the bright lights and the all you can eat buffets of Las Vegas, it's time to settle into a new pace with a stop at Valley of Fire State Park, aptly named for the way its red sandstone formations glisten in the sun. Next you will continue to Zion National Park, where those with a head for heights can hike to the famed Angels Landing for amazing 360 degree views of this magnificent natural valley. Should you prefer a trail which offers a very different perspective, why not hike in the narrows where you can wander in-between towering walls and as the day heats up, the cool water and shadows of the canyon can be very pleasant indeed. Accommodation: Camping and meals included

Day 3: Bryce National Park & Kodachrome Basin State Park

You'll be left struggling to describe this fantastical place, where erosion has carved thousands of spires, fins, arches and mazes into a weird and wonderful landscape, collectively known as "hoodoos". Native Americans believe these bizarre shapes to be `Legend People' who were turned to stone for their sins. There are a variety of scenic overlooks and trails that range from easy to moderate in difficulty. The Navajo trail will enable you to hike right in amongst these unique rock formations. Some of you may prefer to hike on the Queen's Garden trail or remain on the rim and photograph the ever-changing shadows and hues as the sun makes its way across the wide-open sky. A short drive takes you to your lovely campsite at the nearby Kodachrome Basin State Park. Accommodation: Camping and meals included

Day 4-5: Moab & Arches National Park

North America's premier adventure playground, there is plenty to do for adults and kids alike in Moab! The park offers leisurely hikes through spectacular sandstone landscapes with unique names like the Devil's Garden. On arrival you will visit the incredible Arches carved over time by the elements in red sand deserts and for the adventurers amongst you now is time to jump on a mountain bike along sandstone trails or kick back and take in the scenery on an extreme Hummer tour in the evening. On day 5, we trade in our wheels for a customised raft accompanied by a local specialist, for a half day float down the snaking Colorado River enjoying cascading views on a trip suitable for all levels of experience. In the afternoon you visit to Dead Horse Point viewpoint which is sure to eat away at your camera memory card. Accommodation: Camping and meals included

Day 6: Monument Valley

You're then on the road again and off to Monument Valley, one of North America's most iconic landscapes, used as the set for countless Hollywood scenes, from Westerns to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Be amazed as your Navajo guide takes you deep into the sacred valley on an included 4x4 tour, learning about the rich Navajo history and myths of the people who live here. In the evening you sleep in a traditional Navajo mud-hut under a blanket of Arizona stars. This is an incredible way to polish off the day. Accommodation: Traditional Navajo Hogan (multi share) with meals included

Day 7: Lake Powell

Visit Horseshoe Bend for that classic Colorado River view, then enjoy a day of relaxation by beautiful Lake Powell. Located on the border of Utah and Arizona and created by the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River, Lake Powell has a shoreline that stretches longer than the western coast of the USA! Many say that Glen Canyon was even more spectacular than the Grand Canyon before the 500-ft tall dam was built. Now the lake is a haven for water sports or just relaxing in one of the many sandstone coves. You'll enjoy our day of fun in the sun before spending yet another incredible evening camped out under the desert stars. Accommodation: Camping with meals included

Day 8-9: Grand Canyon National Park

You're probably thinking you've seen your fair share of canyons, but we've saved the best for last. The mighty Grand Canyon will leave speechless and this vast natural wonder is bound to impress the whole family. With two nights here you'll have plenty of time to explore some of those cliff-top walking trails and monumental observation spots. Enjoy a beautiful sunset over the canyon whilst tucking in to an included pizza dinner, and perhaps opt for or an unforgettable helicopter flight over this incredible natural wonder. Accommodation: Hotel included I Meals paid locally

Day 10: Grand Canyon National Park, Route 66, Hoover Dam & Las Vegas

Leaving behind stunning canyons and red rocks, you travel along a section of the original Route 66 stopping in the quirky town of Seligman, full of Americana road trip memorabilia and with an option to grab a bite to eat at the Snow Cap Diner. From here you stop for a view of the magnificent Hoover Dam before trading in the wonders of the great outdoors for the neon lights of Las Vegas. Celebrate the end of your great Southwest adventure with incredible shows and jaw-dropping rollercoasters. This is one family holiday you won't forget any time soon!
