Day 1-2: Atlanta, Macon & Savannah

This morning you will make your way to Savannah stopping at the Ocmulgee National Monument, which will take you back in time 10,000 years to when the Native American tribes used to live here. Explore ancient burial grounds and visit the archaeology museum which has a fantastic display of artifacts of the people who used to live here. Next stop is Savannah, where you will visit the hauntingly beautiful cemetery which has captured the imaginations of poets, writers and film-makers alike. The city sits along on the Savannah River and is the epitome of Southern charm, with its low country swamps, antebellum architecture and fine southern cuisine. Finish the day off with some classic blues music and the best shrimps and grits in town at `Old Pink House'. Accommodation: Hotel included | Meals: Paid locally


Day 3: Beaufort

Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973, Beaufort is the home of Dr. James Robert Verdier who discovered the treatment of penicillin. Beaufort has a great historic downtown district and was recently voted as one of `America's Happiest Seaside Towns'. With outstanding outdoor activities such as fishing, water sports, and golf, there is no way you'll be bored in Beaufort. Accommodation: Hotel included | Meals: Paid locally


Day 4: Charleston

Next stop is Charleston, a city that played a pivotal role in the USA's history and there are many fascinating places to visit that shed a light on its past. The best place to begin is Fort Sumter, famous for being where the first shots of the American Civil War were fired. A must try when passing through is the Charleston Nasty Biscuit, which is fried chicken inside a bread bun, covered in thick delicious sausage gravy, a must try when in Charleston. With strong links to the slave trade a visit to the Boone Hall Plantation, the oldest unrestored plantation house in the country is a must. Accommodation: Hotel included | Meals: Paid locally


Day 5: Willmington

This port city is North Carolina's most accessible coastal destination and is the perfect stop if you love being around water. Wilmington boasts three colourful island beaches and a famous river walk which is a beautiful board walk along the Cape Fear River. Being surrounded by water there is an abundance of fresh local seafood and in the historic river district there are plenty of bars and restaurants playing live music. Day 6: Charlotte

Your next stop is in the bustling metropolis of Charlotte, the largest city in Carolina. Known by the locals as Queen City you can learn how Charlotte has been transformed from cotton fields to skyscrapers at the Levine Museum of the New South. Accommodation: Hotel included | Meals: Paid locally


Day 7: Asheville

Ashville is a city surrounded by incredible panoramic views that has an unmistakable mountain vibe. This is a place where you need to have your camera, walking boots and sense of adventure at the ready at all times. Here you'll get your first glimpse of the beautiful scenery of the southern states with the Blue Ridge Mountains as the backdrop of the city. With a growing beer and creative scene, there is something for everyone here and your evening is best spent at the popular Altamont Theatre, which is where music lovers go to listen to their favourite country tunes. Day 8-9: Great Smoky Mountains National Park

This splendid national park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that straddles the ridgeline of the Great Smokey Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Southern Appalachians. As you tour through the majestic landscape you will be treated to stunning panoramic vistas of some of the oldest mountains in the world and ancient old growth forests. As the most visited national park in the U.S it would be rude not get out and explore this 815-sq-mile wonderland. With a great selection of trails leading you through lush forests one trail that will give you great views of the mountains (provided the leaves on the trees are not too thick) is the Baskins Creek Hike, you'll also see beautiful waterfalls and eventually you will arrive at the Baskins Creek Cemetery. However, any hike in this stunning national park will blow you away and in autumn the fall foliage will do nothing but impress. Accommodation: Hotel included | Meals: Paid locally


Day 10: Dahlonega & Atlanta

This morning you will pay a visit to Crisson Gold Mine, one of the oldest continually ran gold mines in the United States, here you can try your hand at panning for own piece of gold. Your tour finishes in the wonderful city of Atlanta. Pay a visit to the home of Coca-Cola and learn all about their secret formula. Explore the streets of Atlanta on a City Segway Tour or just enjoy the many restaurants, bars and theatres around the city. This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.

Optional Solo Sleeper

There are no forced supplements for single travellers. Accommodation is based on twin-share, so if you're travelling on your own, you'll share with a fellow passenger of the same sex. However, if you would prefer your own space our Solo Sleeper Option can be requested from £529 per person. This will guarantee you your own room for every night of the tour. The number of single rooms we can offer is limited, so it's best to book early. Simply select the "Solo Sleepers" check box on the booking form or request over the phone.
