Day 1-2: Los Angeles & San Diego Take a tour of 'Tinseltown' starting with a drive through Hollywood to the Walk of Fame and a view of the iconic Hollywood sign. Head south to San Diego for some seriously laid back vibes and powder white sand beaches. There's loads to keep you busy in here, laze in grassy Balboa Park and explore the famous San Diego Zoo home to over 3,000 incredible animals. Show off your skills by renting some rollerblades or a surfboard, or simply don your shades and soak up some rays. Later, explore the Gaslamp Quarter and experience the heart of San Diego's nightlife. Accommodation: Budget lodging included


Day 3-4: Las Vegas Then it's on to a little place we like to call 'Sin City'. With so much to see and do why not start with an included cruise down "The Strip" in a super-stretch limo and afterwards indulge in an all-you-can eat buffet, take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds and neon signs as the glitzy hotels try to outdo each other with spectacular attractions. And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight back down The Strip, or just gamble the night away in one of the world class casinos. Oh and don't forget, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Day 5-6: Grand Canyon National Park En route to the Grand Canyon you'll drive along a section of the original Route 66, stopping at the town of Seligman; a town frozen in time where you'll find tons of old Americana, so grab a root beer and have a look around! Now it's time for the ultimate show stopper, the mighty Grand Canyon! Once you've cast your eyes upon the deep canyon landscape you'll understand why this great natural wonder is loved by locals and tourists alike. Pack your boots, camera and water and venture into the canyon itself along the Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point or choose the "bird's eye" view on a scenic helicopter flight. Watching the sun rise or set over the canyon with the colours changing is simply breath-taking and not to be missed. Accommodation: Budget lodging included


Day 7: Monument Valley On the road again and off to one of North America's most iconic landscapes, used as the set for countless Western movies, including the recent remake of The Lone Ranger. Immerse yourself in the native culture on an optional guided jeep tour of the Navajo Reservation and back roads. As you marvel at the sight of towering buttes and mesas which dominate the awe-inspiring landscape during the day, wait till the sun goes down and you're swapping camp fire stories under a blanket of stars. Day 8: Santa Fe With 325 days of sunshine per year and bright blue skies, plus some of the best Mexican food in the USA, Santa Fe won't disappoint. For all the art lovers out there Santa Fe is the one for you, visit Canyon Road, home to art galleries, cultural treasures such as hand-woven Navajo rugs, historic adobe buildings and a vibrant restaurant scene. Santa Fe will definitely win you over with its laid back charm and with tons of festivals and events throughout the year, you're bound to stumble upon something interesting. Day 9-10: Carlsbad Caverns National Park & Lubbock, Texas Head on to New Mexico and Carlsbad Caverns National Park to explore one of the largest cave systems in the World. Gnarled limestone stalactites hang from the ceiling like icicles and stalagmites that look like twisting totem poles reach upwards, creating a unique and interesting experience for all who walk through this incredible place. Next, prepare for a big welcome as you enter the Lone Star State, otherwise known as the great state of Texas, the birthplace of Buddy Holly and the world's largest cotton growing region. Day 11-12: Austin, Texas & Louisiana Austin has exploded as the "Live music capital of the world" and is the home of great BBQ Tex-Mex food. The city is packed with "Texas sized" excitement and is sure to impress with a nightlife which rivals some of the biggest cities in the world. We then say goodbye to Texas and head into bayou country, Louisiana. Accommodation: Budget lodging included


Day 13-14: New Orleans Welcome to the country's Deep South, where life moves at a much slower pace. Why not spice up your trip with lip-smacking Cajun and Creole fare, ride a steamboat on the Mississippi River or relax to the sounds of a Jazz or Dixieland band in the French Quarter. New Orleans has more than just incredible tasting food, drink and music to offer. You can take a swamp tour into the alligator habitat of southern Louisiana, and see all sorts of wildlife in the mysterious wetlands of Cajun country. Accommodation: Budget lodging included


Day 15-16: Memphis Memphis is the birthplace of Rock & Roll, and you won't want to miss out on an included visit to Sun Studios, where the likes of Johnny Cash and BB King recorded their most famous records. Head on down to Beale Street where music is literally playing around every corner. There is more to Memphis than just music, pay a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum located in the former Lorraine Hotel and see the place where Martin Luther King was assassinated. Day 17-18: Nashville & Virginia Next is Nashville, Tennessee - the shining star of the country music scene. Hit 'The District' - the nightlife hub of Nashville, laze in the city's parks, trawl the malls or learn to line dance, the opportunities are endless here. Cowboy boots and sequinned denim anyone? Next, touch down in Virginia and the 'spine of America', the Appalachian Mountain Range. Accommodation: Budget lodging included


Day 19-20: Washington DC Washington DC is next on the agenda and you will really enjoy the grandeur of the nation's capital. From the impressive Smithsonian Museums to the White House and the city's trendy bars, the capital has something for everyone. Why not hire a bike to cover more ground and then take advantage of the great nightlife in Georgetown. Accommodation: Budget lodging included


Day 21: Philadelphia & New York Area Leaving the capital behind, drive towards Philadelphia in Pennsylvania where you can visit the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and climb the famous steps from the Rocky movies. But, before you leave make sure you treat yourself to a tasty Philly cheese steak lunch - delicious! Then you head over to New York City where the tour will end. If you're not ready to say goodbye to America just yet, why not spend a couple more days after the tour to explore the sights and sounds of the Big Apple on your own? Splurge along Fifth Ave, hit the top of the Empire State Building, or soak up the trendy, laidback vibe of Greenwich Village before heading home. This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.

BLT Accommodation

We use a combination of accommodation types on the Grand BLT. Most cabins are multi-share rooms sleeping 4 to 6 people with shared facilities and hostel nights are generally arranged on a single sex, multi-share basis, subject to availability. Where possible we will keep the group together and try to accommodate couples; however twin rooms cannot be guaranteed. A sleeping bag is required on the trip.
